Winter Gardens to Banish the Blues!

Winter Gardens have their very own magic; it can come from flowers, scents, berries, coloured stems or the evergreen foliage of plants, shrubs and trees.
Fragrant winter garden specimens such as Sarcococca (sweet box) and Daphne odora can be planted around entrances and beside garden footpaths to be enjoyed each time you pass by. Both smell divine!
All sorts of plants can brighten up the winter garden adding interest to your outside space during the short days and cold weather. Views from your windows & patios can still offer a vivid splash of colour, shape & interest in the cooler months.
Consider introducing evergreen & deciduous shrubs to offer more structure. Herbaceous perennials & bulbs may be planted as fillers for those drab winter days. Winter flowering climbers can sparkle up a wall or weave through a tree. Many winter garden plants are shade tolerant and will brighten up any grey day.
Each seasons is unique in its own way, but there’s no reason why, with a little bit of effort and imagination, your winter garden cannot be every bit as enjoyable as the rest of the year. Call me to discuss ideas for your winter garden and banish those winter blues!
